'Coastal Drift' - RHS Gold Medal Winning Garden at the
Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2012 for a Summer Garden Category
and winner of the Student Design & Build Award 2011 from Provender Nurseries
This garden was sponsored by Provender Nurseries (formally Wyevale East) and was designed for their Student Design and Build Competition 2011. Whilst in our final year of studying Garden Design, myself and fellow student Adele Ford won the competition with this garden design. The prize was to build it at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in the following year.
The concept is taken directly from the waves of the sea, echoed by the shape of the wall and choice of planting. The deck is surrounded by swathes of grasses and perennials, which add movement and colour - harmonising with the sea theme.
'Coastal Drift' offers a peaceful idyll of coastal living. With its cool and calming colour scheme and naturalistic planting, it demonstrates how you can create your own secret haven or small garden.
